Former Manchester United and Liverpool midfielder Paul Ince has suggested that the Champions League winners should sign up Real Madrid outcast Gareth Bale if they can afford him, and implored the forward to reinvent himself.

Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has confirmed that Bale is not in his plans and hoped the player would leave the club as soon as possible. However, Bale’s high salary has been a hindrance with not a lot of clubs able to match his wages and the transfer price.

However, Ince believes that Liverpool should get the player if they can afford him, and Bale himself can reinvent his game if he moves to Anfield.

He told BBC Radio 5Live: "My opinion is if Liverpool can afford him, he should go there. Liverpool's front three haven't had much rest before the season - Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane have played all over the summer. Bale can play right, left or central. If I was looking at a team if they could afford him, it would be Liverpool. He needs to reinvent himself as a player and play football week in, week out.

"He would have to take a massive wage drop. It can't be about money for Bale. He has to go to a team who can win things. Liverpool are European champions and they want to make a massive challenge in the league again.”

It remains to be seen where Bale ends up, with the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City being the only clubs who can actually afford his current salary.
