Ajax had a brilliant 2018/19 campaign with the Dutch club coming all the way to the semi-final of the UEFA Champions League.
However, their success came at a cost, as it has always been the case with them being a top feeder club to all of Europe.
Whenever there is a superstar at Ajax, he ends up playing for an elite European club and the Dutch side look more than happy to let go for their star players in order to continue building their youth academy facilities.

11. Jasper Cillessen - Goalkeeper - £12m
Jasper Cillessen, who joined Valencia this year was bought by Barcelona from Ajax in 2016 for around £12m. However, the Dutch shot-stopper could just make five appearances in his three years at La Blaugrana as Marc-Andre Ter Stegen established himself as Barcelona's number one and one of the best in the world.
10. Daley Blind - Left Back - £13.8m
After impressing at the 2014 World Cup under Louis van Gaal, the versatile defender followed his ex-national team boss to Manchester United in a deal worth £13.8m.
However, after having a fallout with Jose Mourinho when the Portuguese took over United, Blind moved to Ajax in the summer of 2018 in order to find his old swagger, which he definitely has.
9. Matthijs de Ligt - Centre-back - £67.8m
The most in-demand defender in world football this summer, Matthijs de Ligt recently completed his move to Juventus which brought in £67.8m for Ajax.
The centre-half is said to have opted for Juventus, after rejecting offers from other clubs like Barcelona, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain.
8. Davinson Sanchez - Centre-back - £42m
Davinson Sanchez joined Tottenham from Ajax in 2017 for a then club record fee of £42m paid by the North London side. The talented defender has since then gone on and excelled at Spurs, helping them to reach the UEFA Champions League final in the 2018/19 season.
7. Gregory van der Weil - Right-back - £5.4m
After impressing at Ajax for five seasons, Van der Wiel was poached by French giants Paris Saint-Germain in 2012, earning the Dutch side £5.4m in the process.
However, things did not end well for him as the Dutchman spent four years at the Parc des Princes, before leaving at the end of his contract due to injury issues.
6. Justin Kluivert - Winger - £15.8m
The son of ex-Holland star Patrick Kluivert, Justin was widely rumoured to be on the move to Manchester United, but the youngster instead joined the then Champions League semi-finalists Roma.
Kluivert ended up handing Ajax a decent transfer sum of £15.8m from his departure in June 2018.
5. Davy Klaassen - Cenrtral-midfielder - £23.6m
The 2016 Dutch footballer of the year wore the captain's armband in Ajax's Europa League final defeat at the hands of Manchester United, following which he made the move to Everton, but struggled in the Premier League.
Klaassen eventually moving to Werder Bremen in Germany. He ended up handing £23.6m in earnings to Ajax.
4. Frenkie de Jong - Central-midfielder - £65m
Here comes the big one.
FC Barcelona completed the blockbuster signing of Dutch midfielder Frenkie de Jong from Ajax this summer, earning them around £65m.
The talented Dutchman made 86 appearances during his three years with Ajax's senior team and caught the eyes of clubs across Europe with the role he played in helping his team reach the semi-final of the UEFA Champions League.
3. Anwar El-Ghazi - Winger - £6.3m
One of the few players who left Ajax on bad terms, Anwar El-Ghazi saw his relationship with former manager Peter Bosz break down.
He was demoted to the youth team for a month and eventually ensured that he left the club for Losc Lille, who signed him for a nominal cost.
After spending a season on loan at Aston Villa, El-Ghazi was recently signed by them this summer on a permanent transfer.
2. Arkadiusz Milik - Striker - £28.8m
Following his debut for Ajax in 2014, Milik scored 21 goals in 31 games during the 2015-16 domestic season.
His incredible performances caught the eye of many clubs, however Serie A side Napoli was the one to sign him in a transfer worth almost £30m. Ajax decided to sell simply because the player was too adamant to play in Naples.
1. Luis Suarez - Striker - £22.8m
After scoring 81 league goals for Ajax, Luis Suarez made the move to Premier League side Liverpool for just £22.8m.
The Uruguayan great soon became a legend at Liverpool before forcing a move to FC Barcelona in 2014 and is since then, part of an incredible frontline in Catalonia consisting of Lionel Messi.
