5 Top Players Whose Inflated Wages Make It Almost Impossible For Other Clubs To Sign Them

The summer transfer window is in full swing, with a number of European clubs making signings in order to strengthen their squads. However, there are a few players who earn enormous wages which make it almost impossible for clubs to sign them.

Here, we take a look at five such players.

5. Paul Pogba

Paul Pogba's name has been doing the rounds in the transfer window after the Frenchman recently revealed that he is looking for a new challenge. There is no doubting the midfielder's talent, but when it comes to signing him, he is an expensive prospect.

Spanish giants, Real Madrid have been linked with him, but he will not come in for cheap, with current club putting a £150million price-tag on his head. Add to that, his wage packet per week amount to £290,000, which narrows down his options to certain clubs.

4. Gareth Bale

For a man who has scored in two UEFA Champions League finals, Gareth Bale's fall from grace at Real Madrid is surprising, considering the options he offers when on the pitch. However, there have been concerns over his poor injury record and inability to mingle with his dressing room, along with his poor form, which has led manager Zinedine Zidane to give him the boot.

The Welshman earns £350,000-a-week at the Bernabeu, which is the primary reason why Madrid have been unable to shift him on despite him not being in their plans for the summer. Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with his services, but with Bale himself keen to stay put in Spain, it looks unlikely that he will have suitors unless Madrid themselves pay half his salary or more.

3. Mesut Ozil

Mesut Ozil's strongarm tactics ensured that Arsenal gave him a new contract worth £350,000-per-week in 2018 and they would have come to rue this decision as the German has not lived up to his pay packet.

It has been reported that the Gunners want to take his massive wages of their books and while Fenerbahce were said to be interested, they probably balked at his demands and pulled out of the deal.

2. Alexis Sanchez

Arsenal would be happy that they dodged a bullet when it comes to Alexis Sanchez, with the club refusing to offer him a new contract, instead letting him to move to rivals, Manchester United.

The Red Devils took a gamble on the Chile international, offering him a wage packet of  £350,000-per-week, which does not include a further £70,000 in appearance bonus and other various clauses.

The winger has failed to justify why United pay him so much and looking at his salary, no other club would be interested in signing him.

1. Neymar

The Neymar transfer saga continues to rumble on and while many a club would baulk at his transfer fee, considering that he is the most expensive player in the world, they would for sure back-off after hearing that he earns a reported £775,000-per-week at Paris Saint-Germain.

The Brazilian is keen to return back to former club, Barcelona, who seem to be the only club interested in him at this point of time.
