Potential Starting XI of Juventus in the 2019/20 Season

Italian giants, Juventus have made a slew of signings in the summer including bringing a new coach in Maurizio Sarri and multiple players in pursuit of Champions League glory.

Following the signings of Adrien Rabiot, Aaron Ramsey and Matthijs de Ligt, we take a look at the potential starting XI for the Bianconeri going into the 2019/20 season:

11. Wojciech Szczęsny - GK

Wojciech Szczęsny is set to retain his place as the number 1, despite the return of club legend, Gianluigi Buffon from Paris Saint-Germain. The Polish international enjoyed an impressive campaign last season, making some crucial saves in important games while also providing a calm presence in goal.

The 29-year-old made 41 appearances last campaign and will be expected to continue his good form in the upcoming season.

10. João Cancelo - RB

Joao Cancelo was signed by Juventus last season and immediately made the right-back position his own, though there were reservations over his defensive awareness. Despite this, the 25-year-old will be expected to thrive under new manager, Maurizio Sarri who will give him freedom on the wings.

The Portugal international has been linked with a move away from the club, but it is unlikely that he will be sold with the management keen to see him as part of their future.

9. Giorgio Chiellini - CB

An icon at Turin, Giorgio Chiellini will once again be expected to marshall the defence next season, with the skipper expected to continue the good form form the 2018/19 campaign.

While he might not be the best when it comes to playing from the back, his defensive positioning, aerial ability and composure are second to none.

8. Matthijs de Ligt - CB

Juventus' newest signing and one of the most wanted defenders in the world, Matthijs de Ligt would provide the perfect foil to Chiellini in defence as his pace and ability on the ball would complement his partner.

The 19-year-old would undoubtedly make the first team and would also no doubt improve by playing alongside the best in the business.

7. Alex Sandro - LB

Alex Sandro did not have the best of times last season as he struggled to adapt to Max Allegri's focus on being more defensive rather than adventurous, but with Maurizio Sarri's arrival, he will be expected to thrive at left-back.

Luca Pellegrini was signed by the club in the summer from AS Roma, but despite this Sandro will get the nod to start the season and it will be upto him to impress.

6. Miralem Pjanić - CM

Widely considered as one of most creative players in the world, Miralem Pjanic has been a regular fixture in midfield for Juventus ever since he arrived at Turin in 2016. The Bosnian will be expected to play in the "Jorginho" role under Sarri, with the passage of play expected to play through him.

His free-kick skills are an added plus, giving the manager another option when it comes to scoring goals.

5. Adrien Rabiot - CM

A new arrival to Turin, Adrien Rabiot was signed for free after falling-out with former club, Paris Saint-Germain over his contract. The Frenchman has not been seen in action for sometime, but at his best is one of the best box-to-box midfielders in the world.

He will face competition from Blaise Matuidi for a place in the starting XI, but his superior skills on the ball mean that he will make the first XI.

4. Aaron Ramsey - CM

Another player who arrived on free, Aaron Ramsey was signed after Arsenal refused to offer him a new contract, which is surprising considering that he provides energy and goals from midfield.

Juventus have a surplus of midfielders, but the fact that the Welshman offers something different gives him an edge ahead of the others.

3. Douglas Costa - LW

Douglas Costa struggled with injury and off-field issues last season, but has showed flashes of his talent so far at Turin which would make him a starter under Sarri, who favours the type of football that the Brazilian brings to the table.

Costa will be hoping to put last season's troubles behind him, which included a lengthy ban for spitting, and to kick on under his new manager.

2. Paulo Dybala - RW

Paulo Dybala is considered to be the one who will take Lionel Messi's place once the superstar retires, but despite starring for the Bianconeri in the past, he struggled for form last season, which has put his place in the starting XI at risk.

The striker might be asked to play in the unfamiliar wing role by Sarri and with Federico Bernardeschi breathing down his neck in terms of a place in the XI, he will need to ensure that he makes use of his talent to return back to form and help the club challenge both domestically and in Europe.

1. Cristiano Ronaldo - ST

Maurizio Sarri was quick to point out that he was keen to work with Cristiano Ronaldo at Juventus and it will be imperative that the two develop a working relationship for the club to win the long awaited Champions League title.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner enjoyed an impressive debut campaign last season, which led him to being awarded the "Best Player in the Serie A" and he will need to be at his best to add yet more honours to his glittering trophy cabinet.
