With player transfers the norm these days, it is very rare to see players staying at one club for an extended period of time. However, there are some players who have been at their current clubs for more than a decade and still going strong.
Here is a playing XI of players who spent more than a decade at their current clubs.
1. Sergio Alvarez Conde
Sergio Alvarez Conde made his first appearance for Celta de Vigo in the 2010/11 season and has been at the club since then, sharing the goalkeeping duties with Ruben Blanco in the previous campaign. He helped the team reach the Europa League semi-finals in the 2016/17 season, losing out to eventual winners Manchester United.
Marcelo has been at Real Madrid since 2007 and has been a faithful servant of the club for more than a decade. He has won four La Liga titles and four Champions League trophies during his time with the club. Marcelo signed a contract extension in 2017 that will keep him at the club until at least 2022.
3. Loïc Perrin
Loïc Perrin has been a defender at St. Etienne for nearly two decades, having been at the French club since he made his senior debut. Although he has won only a solitary trophy at the club, the defender has never really sought to move out of the club and will more than likely finish his career there itself, making him a rare one club man.
4. Giorgio Chiellini
Giorgio Chiellini has been at Juventus for more than a decade, making his senior debut for the club in the 2005/06 season. The Italian centre half has been a key player in Juventus' dominance in the current decade, having helped them win every Serie A title from the 2011/12 season.
He will, however, hope to win the Champions League title at least once before he leaves the club as that is the only trophy missing from his cabinet.
5. Sergio Ramos
Sergio Ramos had briefly moved to Real Madrid from Sevilla nearly 15 years ago and has been at the forefront of the club's success over the years. He also has won four La Liga titles and four Champions League trophies, having played in the same period as Marcelo, and both team-mates are still going strong.
6. Javi Lopez
Javi Lopez started his senior career with Espanyol and the player has remained at the club since then. The 33-year-old has not won any trophies so far with the club but has helped them stay in the La Liga without too much cause for concern over getting relegated to the second division.
7. David Zurutuza
David Zurutuza has been at Real Sociedad since the start of his senior career, having also played a season on loan with Eibar. But he was one of the players in the squad that helped the team get promoted to La Liga and has played a key role since then to keep them in the first division for nearly a decade now.
8. Francesco Magnanelli
Francesco Magnanelli moved around in the early stages of his career but settled at Italian side Sassuolo and has been at the club for nearly 15 years now. The midfielder has seen the team reach new heights, from winning the Serie C and the Serie B titles to the move up to the Serie A and remain there since then.
9. Mark Noble
Mark Noble has been at West Ham United all his life and has helped them move up to the Premier League, even after they went down at the end of the 2010/11 season. Even at 32 years of age, the midfielder has been playing regularly for the English club, keeping the team comfortably in the mid table positions.
10. Thomas Muller
Thomas Muller is another player who has been at Bayern Munich for all his career. The German world cup winner has been a consistent performer for the team, playing in various positions - even trying out in a midfield role under Pep Guardiola.
Muller remains a key cog of the Bundesliga champions despite the many number of stars they have bought over the years, winning 8 Bundesliga titles and a Champions League trophy so far.
11. Lionel Messi
Lionel Messi has also been at Barcelona for all his playing career, helping the club move from being a good team to being one of the greatest clubs of all time. He has picked up so many trophies that it is almost too much to list. The Argentine may not have won anything with his country but has won 10 La Liga titles and four Champions League trophies.
