Argentina and Barcelona superstar, Lionel Messi has been named the fourth highest paid celebrity in the world as per a list released by Forbes, though there is no place for his rival, Cristiano Ronaldo in the top five.

Forbes released their list of the top 100 highest-paid celebrities for 2019 with the 31-year-old coming in fourth, with the magazine estimating that he earned a staggering $127 million (£101 million) as of July 2019.

That Messi has come on top among footballers is due to his mouth watering contract with the Catalan giants, with whom he signed a new contract last year worth 50m-per-year without tax, while he also has an extremely lucrative sponsorship deal with sporting manufacturing giants, Adidas.

Ronaldo narrowly missed the top five list, coming in at sixth after pocketing $109m (£87m), a majority of which came thanks to his salary and wages at current club, Juventus. Paris Saint-Germain star, Neymar came in at seventh, earning a cool $105m (£84m) during the said time period.

Musician Taylor Swift leads the world's highest-paid celebrities list, making a staggering $185m (£148m), while Kylie Jenner, Kanye West, Ed Sheeran, The Eagles, Dr. Phil and Canelo Alvarez make up the top ten.
