Manchester United have handed out a £45m bid for their long time rumoured transfer target Nikola Milenkovic of Italian club Fiorentina as they attempt to line-up options while continuing to chase Harry Maguire's signature, according to reports in Italy.
The Red Devils are in desperate need of defensive reinforcements this summer and while they remain confident that they will land Maguire, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has suggested the club to line-up a contingency plan in the form of Milenkovic.
According to the Mirror, United have contacted Fiorentina this week for the 6ft 5inch giant centre-back, as per reports in the Italian media.
21-year-old Milenkovic has impressed in Serie A since joining the Italian side from Partizan Belgrade in 2017. The Red Devils made a £36m bid for the defender in January but it was reportedly rejected by Florentina. United have reportedly now gone back to the Serie A club with a better offer.
Moving back to the Maguire saga, United are reported to have offered Leicester City a couple of current players from Solskjaer's squad but the Foxes want a full cash payment deal. This has led to United finally dragging their summer transfer window ahead and ticking off their list of alternatives starting with Milenkovic.
