Paris Saint-Germain defender Marquinhos has admitted that it would difficult for the club to keep hold of Brazil superstar Neymar, especially considering that the forward has been linked with a move back to Barcelona.

Neymar transferred to PSG at the start of the 2017/18 season for a fee that made him the most expensive footballer of all time. The Brazilian international has won multiple titles with the club during his stay there but has not being able to guide them to the Champions League trophy.

With rumours now strong that Neymar wants to return to Barcelona, Marquinhos is hoping that the forward stays with the club rather than move, but admits that it could be difficult to keep him in France.

He told L’Equipe: “It's difficult to recruit a player like him into your club and it's hard to keep him, but I hope he'll continue with us. He is an important player, he's also a friend, a guy I love, and I really hope he'll stay. We have not talked about his future, I guess there are already a lot of people who only talk to him about it.”

“He's a friend, so we just wanted to know if he was feeling better, mentally and physically,” he added. He can make movements with his foot, he can already hit the ball a little at home. At the beginning of this he was really sad but today he is better, and that's why it made us happy to see it.”

It remains to be seen if Neymar will stay on with PSG or if he will complete the return to Barcelona, considering that the French champions are not willing to let him go for anything less than 300 million.
