La Liga has come under criticism for leaving out footballing superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo from a post asking fans to choose their favourite legend to have played in Spain.

The league posted on Facebook an image that featured 20 footballers, with a caption that asked fans to 'choose their favourite legend,' with the post featuring a number of legends including the likes of Lionel Messi, Zinedine Zidane, Ronaldinho, Xavi and Andrés Iniesta.

However, the image did not consist of Ronaldo, which led to immense criticism and furious reactions from fans and supporters, with a few of them going on to point out the embarrassment for La Liga.

"You forgot about [the] godfather of all of them. Cristiano Ronaldo," one fan wrote, while another said, "Cristiano, I guess, is too good to be in here." A third wrote: "Where is Cristiano Ronaldo, the worldwide legend?" while a fourth said, "Cristiano Ronaldo, and he can't be compared with any of these legends because he is out of this world. Suiiiiuiiiieeeeeeeee [sic]."

His omission is certainly baffling considering that he has without doubt been one of the best players to play in Spain, with the 34-year-old being Real Madrid's all-time leading goalscorer with 450 goals from 438 games. He also helped them win a total of 15 trophies during his nine-year stint at the Bernabeu.
