When it comes to analysing which football clubs could be the most successful clubs in the history of the sport, there are some names like FC BarcelonaReal Madrid, Liverpool, Manchester United and Bayern Munich among others, that crop up immediately on our mind.

However, when it comes to the most successful club in the world based on the number of trophies they have won, none of those sides top the world's leaderboard.

In fact, they’re not even in the top five, according to a chart created by Goal.com which shows the top 30 most successful clubs in the world.

Barcelona, one of the biggest teams in club football, are actually the sixth most successful team in the world when it comes to winning trophies.

The team that came out on top of the list is Egyptian side Al Ahly, who have won 118 trophies since their formation in 1907.

Al Ahly, dubbed the 'Club of the Century,' has won the Egyptian championship 40 times and also holds 36 Egyptian cup wins to their name, according to Transfermarkt.

Uruguay's Club Nacional de Football (113) and Atlético Peñarol (108) are third and fourth respectively, while Celtic holds down fifth place with 105 trophies. England is represented in the top 20 with Manchester United coming in at 12th with 71 trophies and Liverpool at 18th with 59 trophies.

Juventus come in 15th spot whereas AC Milan are 25th.
