Chelsea defender David Luiz has claimed that only the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi can replace Eden Hazard, but was confident that youngster Callum Hudson-Odoi has the talent to emulate the Belgian eventually.

Hazard helped Chelsea win the Europa League final over Arsenal with a scintillating performance and two goals on the night, but confirmed that it was his last game for the Blues. Although he did not say where he would be going, it is known that he is headed to Real Madrid.

Luiz wished the Belgian international the best of luck if he was indeed leaving, but was not too fussed as he believes that Hudson-Odoi can take up the mantle in a couple of years.

“That’s either Messi or Ronaldo [who can replace Hazard],” Luiz said, according to Goal

“I think if he goes I just wish him all the best. He is a fantastic player, friend and guy. I’ve known him ever since he was so young here. I am so happy for him because the world knows who Eden Hazard is. It is part of life. Some cycles finish, some cycles start. I think we have many, many talents within the club who can replace him."

“Callum [Hudson-Odoi] is great. Callum has known this club since he was young and he has the talents to one day try to be like Eden. It didn’t start so well because of the injury but it is time for him to improve in other sides [of his game]," the Brazilian concluded.

It remains to be seen if that is indeed the case, especially considering the fact that Bayern Munich were trying to sign the youngster based on the talent he has shown so far.
