Barcelona talisman, Lionel Messi reportedly wants the club authorities to pursue Manchester City winger Leroy Sane instead of spending an exorbitant amount to sign departing Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann.
Ever since Griezmann revealed that he would leave the Spanish club in the summer, there have been reports emerging that Barcelona are the frontrunners for his signature, with the club hierarchy already starting negotiations on luring him to the Nou Camp.
According to Sportskeeda, Messi is not in favour of the move as not only would the Frenchman cost a huge sum of money but also because they believe that he has only three or four more years to go in his career, while his rejection of Barcelona last season is still fresh in their minds.
As per the report, Sane they believe would be a better alternative as he is not only young but also is electric on the wings, something which has hurt the club this season due to Philippe Coutinho's poor form and Ousmane Dembele's trouble in staying fit.
Sane for his part has struggled to establish himself as a regular starter at City, partly due to the emergence of Bernardo Silva and it is unlikely that he will stick around at the Etihad if this continues.
It will be interesting to see how the club management goes about this considering that they view Griezmann as someone who would definitely strengthen their squad as they look to challenge for the Champions League next season.
