Bayern Munich stars, Leon Goretzka and Niklas Sule believe that manager Niko Kovac should be shown more respect after he lead the German giants to their 28th Bundesliga title on the final day of the season.

Kovac has come under intense scrutiny from both the media and the fans in his first season at Bayern, however he managed to overcome that by leading the club to their seventh consecutive league title after they thrashed his former side, Eintracht Frankfurt over the weekend.

The duo who represent the new generation at the club have asked for Kovac to be given the due respect that he deserves.

"On such a day on which you’re celebrating the title, everyone should be treated with due respect. I think that there was an extraordinary atmosphere in the arena today. A beautiful day," Goretzka said, as quoted by Bavarian Football.

While Sule added, "I have seen that the coach is being called into question. But I think that we gave the right answer on the pitch today. Of course we have them. It started already before the game. Even before kickoff, his name was being called. Now you can also say that he didn’t prepare us badly for the game. We caught up a nine-point lead. That speaks for itself."

Despite his success, many have questioned whether the 47-year-old is the right man to lead the club next season as they look to win the UEFA Champions League for the first time since 2013.
