Manchester City produced another incredible performance to become the first side to retain the Premier League title in a decade. However, manager Pep Guardiola is looking to further strengthen his side as they look to challenge in Europe next season.
As per Manchester Evening News , the Spaniard is looking to add one defender, one striker and two midfielders in the summer. Who are the four players? Let's take a look.
4. Houssem Aouar (Lyon)
Praised highly for his technical ability and with the ball at his feet, Houssem Aouar has caught the eye of Pep Guardiola who is looking to bring in cover for Fernandinho in central midfield. The 20-year-old who came through the youth academy at Lyon, has been an ever present for the French side this season, making 44 appearances and chipping in with 7 goals.
3. Rodri (Atletico Madrid)
Coming up in the youth ranks of Atletico Madrid, Rodri moved to Villarreal in search of first-team football before finally returning back last summer. The 22-year-old has enjoyed an impressive debut season for the club, so much so that a number of European heavyweights are keen to sign him in the summer.
Guardiola has identified the Spaniard as one he wants to bring to the Etihad and if he moves, there is no doubt that Manchester City will get even stronger next season.
2. Matthijs de Ligt (Ajax)
Arguably, the most wanted defender in football currently, Ajax starlet Matthijs de Ligt has been immense for the Dutch club this season, putting in performances which makes him worthy to be named alongside the best in the world.
De Ligt has been linked with a move to Barcelona, with it being reported that he is keen to make a move to the Nou Camp, which makes City's and Guardiola's task much more harder in the summer.
1. Luka Jovic (Eintracht Frankfurt)
Another player who is being chased by a number of clubs is striker Luka Jovic who seems destined to leave Frankfurt in the summer. The 21-year-old has been brilliant scoring 25 goals so far this season, impressing everyone with his composure in front of goal.
While City already have the likes of Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus in their ranks, it looks like Guardiola is already planning for the future as they aim to bring in a top class striker and Jovic definitely makes the cut.
