Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi did not have the best of times on the field during their 4-0 loss to Liverpool in the semi-final second leg of the UEFA Champions League and off the field too, it was not the best of nights for him.

As per Mirror, the Barcelona team bus did not wait for the Argentinian and took off without him as they departed Anfield, with Messi busy as he had to undergo a mandatory doping test immediately post the game.

The process took so long that the Barcelona management decided to travel to the airport without him with special arrangements eventually being made to reunite Messi with the rest of his team-mates and coaching staff before they traveled back to Spain.

The Catalan giants came into the game on the back of a three goal commanding lead and were favourites to progress to their first final since 2015, but were overrun by a Liverpool side who were without two of their star players in Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino.

Messi for his part was not at his best and could not add to his Champions League tally and would now look to contribute in the finals of the Copa del Rey and help Barcelona clinch the domestic double.
