Premier League: Three Things we Learned From Arsenal's 1-0 Loss to West Ham United

Arsenal travelled to London Stadium and suffered a 1-0 defeat against West Ham United that put a dent on their chances of finishing in the top four. The defeat gives Manchester United an opportunity to draw level with them if they can beat Tottenham Hotspur, while Chelsea have moved six points clear of them.

Here are three things we learned from Arsenal's 1-0 defeat to West Ham.

3. Lethargic Arsenal

Arsenal were very lethargic in the game and their passing had no urgency or emergency. They struggled to move the ball through the middle and could not get both Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang or Alexandre Lacazette involved for any significant portion of the game.

It was a struggle for them to create chances, especially in the first half.

2. Rice impresses with maiden goal

Declan Rice's first time shot from inside the box after a deft pass from Samir Nasri was the only goal of the game, with the 19-year-old's effort capping off what was a great night for him and the Hammers.

Rice had a chance to score earlier in the game as well, but his header went wide, but he made up for it and ensured his team got all three points.

1. Top four race gets tough for Arsenal

Arsenal are now six points behind Chelsea and have made it difficult for themselves to stay in the top four fight. They face the Blues next weekend, and anything less than a win would mean they can kiss their chances goodbye.

The manner in which Arsenal played today suggests they may not have the strength in the squad to pull off a win over their top four rivals, making it even more difficult to get the job done.
