3 Things to Look Forward to as India Face Jordan in an International Friendly

Jordan and India go head to head in an international friendly game and the visitors are expected to dominate the game. Manager Stephen Constantine will be looking at this game as preparation for the AFC Asian Cup that is only two months away.

Despite all the issues and delays in getting the entire Indian team to Amman, both teams are going ahead with the match tonight.

Here are three things to look out for in the Jordan vs India match.

Note - The game will be telecast live on Star Sports from 10.30 pm IST

3. Sunil Chhetri's Absence

With the absence of star forward and captain Sunil Chhetri due to an ankle injury, Stephen Constantine will be looking to shift things around and see how they can cope without the team's talisman and his goals.

Jeje Lalpekhlua and Balwant Singh will be the ones tasked with getting the goals against the Jordanian defence.

With youngsters like Manvir Singh and Sumeet Passi also part of the squad, it will give a chance for the manager to see how they can deal with Chhetri's absences in the future.

2. Short Rest and Preparation Time

India only arrived 24 hours before the game considering there were flight delays as a result of the floods in the Middle East. Originally, the game was expected to be cancelled but both teams are going ahead with the game.

Jordan have already announced that the ticket money would be donated to the relief fund and considering that, India's decision to continue with the game is a brave and noble one.

Constantine's men will have a tough ask on their hands though, considering they have had barely any time to rest and prepare for the game.

1. Asian Cup in Sight

India will be taking part in the AFC Asian Cup in two months time, and this will be one of the last friendlies they would be playing before the tournament. The only other game on the calendar as of now is a friendly against Oman on December 26.

Jordan will present another challenge for the team, considering they are only 15 places below India in the FIFA rankings at 112. India. After having drawn 0-0 against China, this would also be ideal preparation for the challenges they are likely to face in the Asian Cup.
