10. Gabriel Heinze

Ronaldo: Man United, Messi: Argentina


A former Argentine left-back and the current manager of Argentinos Juniors, Gabriel Heinze was signed by Sir Alex Ferguson in 2004, a year after Ronaldo had arrived, for 6.9 million pounds.


He left for Real Madrid in 2007 and played for them till the 2009 season.

Heinze shared the field with Messi while playing for Argentina, from the year 2005 till 2010.

9. Deco

Ronaldo: Portugal, Messi: Barcelona


Like Pepe, Deco was a Brazil-born Portuguese footballer, who played as an attacking midfielder. In 2004, he signed for Barcelona for 15 million Euros in a swap deal that saw Ricardo Quaresma move to Porto. He played with Lionel Messi at Barcelona till the end of the 2007-08 season, after which he moved to Chelsea.


He was one of the stars of the Portugal squad that reached the finals of Euro 2004, where they lost out to Greece. The squad had a young talented prodigy named Cristiano Ronaldo who was turning heads everywhere.


Deco played for Portugal till 2010, after which he announced his retirement from international football.

8. Henrik Larsson

Henrik Edward Larsson was known for his goal scoring prowess and on-field intelligence. Having established himself as a legend at Celtic, he joined Barcelona on a free transfer in 2004.


Larsson established himself as an integral part of the team and formed a great attacking tandem with Ludovic Giuly, Ronaldinho and Samuel Eto'o for 2 seasons. The young Messi was making substitute appearances back then.


Once out of Spain, he joined Swedish club Helsingborg, but during the Swedish League's offseason, he joined Manchester United on loan in January 2007 for a couple of months.

He played with Ronaldo for a total of 13 games, scoring 3 goals and received a Premier League medal for his contributions.

In 2008, Real Madrid signed the central defender from Argentina based on his performances for Racing Santander. Garay and Ronaldo officially debuted in the same match for Real Madrid, staying at the Spanish club till 2011 when he was sold.


He was part of the Argentina U-20 team that won the World Cup in 2005, alongside Lionel Messi. Garay was also a part of the Olympic Gold Medal winning team in Beijing and was part of the Argentina team till the 2015 Copa America.

A full international, he played with Lionel Messi through all the major tournaments from 2007, winning the Gold at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, going all the way till the final of the 2014 World Cup.

5. Gonzalo Higuain

Playing with Cristiano Ronaldo, he became an integral part of the Real Madrid side when Jose Mourinho was in charge. Though he was a preferred player under Mourinho, when he left to take over at Chelsea, Higuain was sold to Napoli for 40 million Euros, where he stayed till the summer of 2016, before moving to Juventus.


The striker has been a regular starter for the Argentine national team and along with Lionel Messi, has played in many major tournaments.

Carlos Tevez came into the limelight when he signed for West Ham United along with Javier Mascherano back in 2006. Sir Alex Ferguson brought the striker to Old Trafford on a two-year loan.


During that time, He went on to score 34 goals in 2 seasons at the club and was part of the team's attacking trio alongside Ronaldo Rooney that won both the Champions League and the Premier League in 2007-08.


Carlos Tevez has been playing for Argentina since 2004, and though his rifts with managers has cost him several team honours, he has played many times with Lionel Messi.
