Sane has been rumoured to move away from City in the summer transfer window, especially considering that he is not exactly first choice in the team, with Pep Guardiola more often than not choosing other players to start.
With Bayern barely scraping through to the Bundesliga title and being knocked out of the Champions League early in the competition, Lewandowski believes that Sane can be the player that improves them.
According to Goal, Lewandowski told a media roundtable: "That’s a super player with great qualities and great potential. I’ve already seen many times how good he is. That’s a player who can immediately take us higher, who improves the team."
"The transfer window hasn’t even opened yet and we already have two players, I know there’s still more to come," the forward said. "That’s certain. Bayern has not yet said the final word with respect to transfers. If someone comes, he has to help us immediately, make us better with his quality. You don’t have any time here to develop someone for two years. From the very first matchday, you have to raise the quality of the whole team."
It remains to be seen if that will indeed be the case, or if City will be able to convince the German to stay with them as they aim to win the Champions League next season.
