Premier League side, Manchester United are keeping tabs of midfielder Ivan Rakitic's situation at Barcelona with Dailyrecord claiming that the Red Devils are working on a deal to bring the Croatian to Old Trafford in the summer.

United are keen to land Rakitic considering that manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking for an experienced hand in midfield, following the departure of Ander Herrera while there are doubts over the future of Paul Pogba who is clamoring for a move to Real Madrid.

Barcelona for their part are understood to be willing to sell the Croatian as they look to generate funds for their own transfers, but value him at £48 million which could put a spanner in the works as United are willing to only pay £30m for his services.

Rakitic who is contracted with the club till 2021 recently expressed his intention of staying at the Nou Camp, but with the club buying midfielder Frenkie de Jong from Ajax, his place in the side could come under threat.

Despite being 31, Rakitic has always ensured he is in prime fitness, having missed only nine games due to injury so far in his five-year spell at Barcelona. The Croatian has been an integral part of the Catalan's success in recent times, making 267 appearances, scoring 35 goals and winning four La Liga titles, four Copa del Rey's and the 2015 UEFA Champions League so far.
