Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt's Barcelona deal has been stalled by agent Mino Raiola's demands because he believes that he can get a better financial deal at Manchester United.

The 19-year-old impressive centre-back will leave Ajax this summer after helping his side to a domestic double and the Blaugrana have been leading the race for his signature, including verbally agreeing a deal during talks with Raiola in Monte Carlo last month.

However, it has now been claimed that Raiola has reverted back to Barcelona and has demanded a higher salary and agent fee from them.

As reported by Catalunya RadioRaiola’s demands are the last major issue that Barcelona are facing, but the Red Devils have made their own move and are said to be ‘economically more committed’ to signing the teenager.

The report goes on to mention that United are ready to give Raiola what he wants in terms of fees whereas Barcelona are hoping the player wants to move to Catalonia and could force his agent in order to do so.

Barcelona played a similar tactic with regards to Frenkie de Jong's signing when PSG handed the player a more lucrative offer and they believe that De Ligt’s preference is to play alongside his compatriot De Jong in the same team even if the financial package is not as high, with United’s interest, as usual, is simply being used to get a better deal.
