Argentinean maestro Lionel Messi added another accolade to what has been yet another insane  goalscoring performance by the FC Barcelona legend this season.

With his latest performance of scoring a brace against Eibar, Messi has now gone on to claim the Golden Boot in La Liga for a record six times and has therefore equaled the accolade earned by La Liga great Telmo Zarra.

Until now, it was one of the few honours that still belonged to just Telmo Zarra alone. The legendary Athletic Bilbao forward, who played between 1940 and 1955 slammed 251 goals in 277 La Liga games whereas a total of 335 goals in 354 matches in all competitions.

AS report that when adding his three individual seasons at Erandio, Indautxu and Barakaldo, Zarra slammed in a total of 363 goals in 411 club appearances collectively.

Eventually, Zarra hit the peak of his career in the five year period between 1946 and 1951, when he posted figures similar to that of Messi at Barcelona. In the league and cup, he scored an incredible 36, 31, 37 and 49 goals per season respectively, in a 16 team league.

What adds more legendary status to this record is that Messi has now won the Liga scoring trophy on six occasions, the same number as Zarra, who outscored everyone else in 1944-45, 1945-46, 1946-47, 1949-50, 1950-51 and 1952-53.
