3 Right Wingers Manchester United Should Target to Strengthen Their Squad

Manchester United's season of struggle and heartbreak has to come to a conclusion, but their period of rebuild is just about to start with the opening of the summer transfer window.

With new manager Ole Gunner Sokskjaer focusing his football on old-school wingplay, the forwards have struggled to move forward into the final third, either because of inconsistencies in form, fitness or because they are playing out of position.

One position that has notoriously haunted the Red Devils after the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson is the right-wing as they have struggled to replace the stalwarts of past who have played in that position.

So here are three young right wingers who can be realistically signed by Manchester United in the upcoming summer.

3. Steven Bergwijn

Steven Bergwijn is a versatile winger with a penchant for destroying full-backs. An accurate crosser of the ball who likes to hug the wings instead of cutting inside, he can provide the width Manchester United have so desperately missed over the years.

And at 21, he has the potential and ability to become a world-beater, and where better to do it than the Theater of Dreams.

2. Nicolas Pepe

LOSC Lille right winger Nicolas Pepe has been a revelation this season. Having scored 21 goals and assisted 12 times in 2018/19 so far, he has been absolutely brilliant down the right for Les Dogues, being practically unplayable against due to his pace.

The Ivorian has also shown a penchant for stepping up in big games for his club, as seen by 3 goals in 2 games against league winners Paris Saint-Germain and another 3 in 2 against a dangerous Marseille side.

1. Jadon Sancho

The Borussia Dortmund no. 7 has had a marvelous time in his second season at the club. The ex-Manchester City wonderkid has scored 12 goals, but his assist numbers are stunning, having recorded 19 assists, the highest in this Bundesliga season so far.

Playing mostly down the right-wing, his performances for the German club have elevated them to a title challenge in the Bundesliga. Despite having only turned 19, and being surrounded by all this hype, the English international seems to have a level head.

He would be a guaranteed starter under Ole Gunner Solskjaer if he signs, but it will be very hard to convince Der BVB to sell the young man for any less than €150 million.
