Manchester United might have to pay Alexis Sanchez £12 million to leave the club, according to reports from the Mirror

United's squad has experienced a collective failing in the past year, facilitating the end of Jose Mourinho's tenure in Manchester. Personally however, it has been a horrendous 16-months for the winger, as he struggles with a crash in form, niggling injuries and a general lack of playing time.

Presumably brought in by the Portuguese manager to provide experience to an inexperienced frontline and to replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic's world class finishing ability, the Chilean has been abysmal, his body not adhering to the high-tempo English game anymore.

A number of first-team players are running out of time at United, and after ending the Premier League season in a disappointing sixth position, the club needs to look elsewhere.

The former Arsenal superstar could depart on loan to either of Juventus or Inter Milan with a buyout clause attached on the loan during the summer. However, United could be forced to pay half of the wages, i.e, £250,000-per-week to play in Italy.

The pace of English football is too much for the former Gunner, and a switch to the slower Serie A  could help boost his flagging reputation.
