Juventus hitman Cristiano Ronaldo has come to the defence of Neymar after the Brazilian continues to attract criticism from fans all across the globe.

Neymar performed exceptionally well in his first year at PSG but could not manage to continue his greatness in the league this season. Ronaldo, meanwhile, moved to another league and joined Juventus and won the league title in his debut season.

Ronaldo recently spoke to Goal.com and handed out his thoughts on the criticism received by Neymar.

He started out by stating, "In football, there has always been criticisms. We cannot do anything about it. I see him as a very intelligent kid, an extraordinary talent, and wanting to have continuity again. He had two serious injuries that reduced his game time, and that opened the window of controversy to him when not being on the field."

The Portuguese maestro, whose Juventus side lost to AS Roma on Sunday, continued, "The vast majority of criticism is unfair. I believe in him and I’m sure he will turn his situation around."

Ronaldo also spoke about what he feels regarding Neymar's rumoured move to Real Madrid in the near future as he said, "I do not know about Neymar. It has been dragging on for many years. There are many rumours, but I do not think there is anything concrete with Real Madrid."

He concluded, "He is an incredible player that anyone would like to have. But, from what I see, he’s not on the market."
