A group of pretty devastated FC Barcelona fans hurled questions at Lionel Messi when the Argentinean reached Liverpool's John Lennon airport to take the flight back home. They also abused a few other players on their way to their check-ins.

Liverpool completed one of UEFA Champions League's greatest ever comebacks as two goals each from from Divock Origi and Georginio Wijnaldum sent Jurgen Klopp’s side into the final for a second successive season.

While Messi was at his insane best in the first leg at the Camp Nou, Liverpool channeled the spirit of Anfield in the second leg to wipe Barcelona right out of Europe.

To make matters worse for Messi, he was required to undergo a doping test immediately after the defeat and Barcelona's team bus departed Anfield without him on board.

When Messi did make the airport finally, he was confronted by a number of Barcelona fans who piled up more misery on their club's ultimate legend.

According to El Chiringuito TV, one supporter yelled: ‘Messi you are the captain! You are the one in charge!’ Only [Marc-Andre] Ter Stegen. All year, all f***ing year, only Ter Stegen!’

Here's the video of the confrontation:

Moreover, Mundo Deportivo claimed that Messi was subject to booing while he made it to the airport. Pepe Costa, the director of Barcelona’s player department, was also involved in a clash with angry supporters before the situation cooled.

The report adds in conclusion that a separate group of Barcelona fans showed support for Messi and applauded him as he walked away.
