In the wake of Manchester United's 1-0 defeat to Barcelona at Old Trafford in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-final, one player received a lot of hatred from the home fans for his performance, Ashley Young.

The winger-turned-full-back was deployed on the right and no matter how much he tried, none of his crosses were convincing enough to help United forwards to make something out of it.

To highlight United’s failure in front of goal on Wednesday, it was the first time since 2009 that they had failed to register a shot on target during a Champions League home game.

Moreover, Young attempted 11 crosses during the game against Barca but not a single one of them found a United player. According to Opta’s statistics, Young also lost possession on an unbelievable 30 occasions at Old Trafford.

While Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is already looking for a right-back in the upcoming summer transfer window, fans on social media have made it totally clear that Ashley Young needs to be replaced anyhow after this season or maybe, even before.

Fans took to Twitter and blasted Young as Manchester United fell to defeat against Barcelona. Here are some of the best tweets from the night....
