Real Madrid scouts are reported to have been present during AS Roma's UEFA Champions League clash against FC Porto in February in order to watch 19-year-old Italian Nicolo Zaniolo.

Zaniolo became the youngest Italian in history to bag two goals in a Champions League game and although Roma were eventually eliminated by Porto in extra time.

AS report that the Italian midfielder has been the subject of interest from the Los Blancos since the 3-0 defeat Roma suffered in September in Madrid.

The report goes on to say that the scouts are said to have submitted a positive report on Zaniolo to Real Madrid in which they are said to have mentioned that the player is tall, young, with plenty of potential and an eye for goal.

During the game at Santiago Bernabeu, Roma coach Eusebio Di Francesco started Zaniolo and the player ran more than any of his teammates in the first half along with delivering a decent performance. Two weeks later, he was called up for the Italian national team by Roberto Mancini.

But it was the game against Porto that Zaniolo truly announced himself to Europe. His brace against the Portuguese giants came in just six second half minutes.

The youngster was reported to have been chased by Real Madrid in January but no move could materialise, however it definitely looks like Zaniolo will have the last say on his future, whether it will be in Italy or Spain.
