Juventus superstar Cristiano Ronaldo did not forget his Real Madrid roots after knocking Atletico Madrid out of the UEFA Champions League. Additionally, the Portuguese hitman ensured that he sent a message to Los Blancos fans after the game.

Ronaldo bagged his eighth European hat-trick in Turin on Tuesday night as the Italian side pulled off a stunning comeback to reach the quarter-finals.

Juventus had lost 2-0 in the first leg with Ronaldo being jeered by Atletico fans throughout the game, but the former Real Madrid striker scored three goals to send the Rojiblancos packing home.

Metro reveal that while on the way back to the dressing room after Juventus' win with his son, Ronaldo stopped to see the familiar face of Edu Aguirre, a reporter for Spanish TV show El Chiringuito who broke down in tears when Real Madrid were beaten by Ajax last week, and gave him a big hug.

And although he was keen to make a swift exit, he said: ‘I send a hug to El Chiringuito, [Tomas] Roncero and all Real Madrid fans.’

Roncero, editor of newspaper AS, is a huge Real fan and regular contributor on El Chiringuito. He too was distraught when Real were knocked out of the Champions League.

However, their former player knocking out their fiercest rivals is something that fans such as these can gain solace from.
