Footballing superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed that Juventus brought him to Italy to "help do things they have never done before" after his hat-trick helped the club overcome a 2-0 deficit over Atletico Madrid and helped them progress to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League.

It is no secret that Juventus bought the serial Champions League winner in the summer to help them win their first European trophy since 1996 and Ronaldo has lived up to his billing, netting his eighth hat-trick in the competition.

"This was why Juventus brought me here, to help do things that they have never done before," said Ronaldo, now 34. "This is the mentality you need to win in the Champions League. I just do my work and I'm very happy tonight, it was a magical night. Atletico are always difficult to face, but we are also strong and we proved it," he said as quoted by Sky Sports.

"We wanted a special night and it was just that - not only for my goals, but for the entire team. This is the right mentality to play in the Champions League, so we must be proud."

The 34-year-old is the tournament's top goalscorer and has now extended his tally to 124 goals, which six more than what Atletico have scored in total in their history of the competition.
