Premier League: Three Things we Learned From Chelsea's 2-1 win Over Newcastle United

Chelsea picked up a 2-1 win over Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge to give themselves a six point lead over Arsenal in the race for top four. The Blues were not completely convincing in their win, but will take the three points, considering Tottenham Hotspur might drop some points in their game against Manchester United.

Here are three things we learned from Chelsea's 2-1 win over Newcastle United.

3. Chelsea false nine experiment failing

Chelsea once again found themselves using Eden Hazard as a false nine, flanked by Pedro and Willian. It once again proved to be a failure, with Hazard barely making an impact on the game, especially in the first half. It took route one football for them to get the opener and some Hazard and WIllian magic to get the second.

2. Newcastle's forward problems also laid bare

Newcastle United were also suffering from a lack of a goalscoring forward, even though Salomon Rondon did his best to provide some flick ons and to keep the ball while the others came forward. It was a setpiece that gave them the goal, but with a good striker, they could have taken the game to Chelsea and may have even come away with a win.

1. Top Four race

With Chelsea's win, the race to the top four eased up a bit, with the Blues taking a six point lead over the Gunners. Arsenal will play Chelsea next weekend, and only a win will give the Gunners any chance of getting back into the race.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are also picking off points, so Chelsea will need to be aware of them as well.
