The winter transfer window is upon us and as usual, there is chatter among the clubs over signing of players in order to fill the gaps in their squads. Here, we take a look at five strikers who have been linked with a move this month.
1. Mauro Icardi (Inter Milan)
The Inter Milan skipper is reportedly yet to agree a contract extension with Inter Milan and though his deal has another 2 and a half years to run, it is being understood that he might be willing to make a move amid interest from the likes of Real Madrid and Chelsea.
Icardi is widely regarded as one of the best strikers in the world and has been Inter's main player as seen by his returns, with the striker netting 22,16, 24 and 29 goals in the Serie A over the past four seasons.
2. Gonzalo Higuain (AC Milan)
Gonzalo Higuain who is currently on loan at AC Milan from Juventus, is said to be Maurizio Sarri's number one choice, with the current Chelsea manager keen to reunite with the striker who was deadly for him during their time at Napoli.
The 31-year-old has netted eight goals so far for Milan and while there are concerns over his big game mentality, there is no doubt that he is brilliant on his day.
3. Andre Silva (Sevilla)
Another striker who has been linked with a move to the Premier League, Andre Silva is on loan at Sevilla from AC Milan, where he has performed admirably, scoring nine goals in 23 games so far.
Silva struggled to produce the goods during his time in Italy, but at 23, there is a lot of time for him to develop. He is rated very highly in Portugal and could find a suitor in the near future.
4. Alvaro Morata (Chelsea)
There is no doubting Alvaro Morata's talent, but unfortunately for him, he has struggled to show that on a consistent basis at Chelsea, scoring just 24 goals in 72 games ever since he moved to Stamford Bridge from Real Madrid in 2017.
The Spaniard has looked bereft of confidence in front of goal and is no doubt on his way out of Chelsea, with AC Milan and Sevilla reportedly interested in signing him.
5. Marko Arnautovic (West Ham United)
Marko Arnautovic has excelled playing in a false nine position under Manuel Pellegrini at West Ham United this season, netting eight goals so far, but it was recently revealed that wants to leave the club and move to the Chinese Super League (CSL) amid interest from the far East.
West Ham for their part do not want to sell their star and expect him to honour his contract with them.
