3 Things to Look Forward to as NorthEast United Host ATK in East Indian Derby in ISL

NorthEast United will take on ATK at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati in the Indian Super League tonight.

Both teams have been decent in the ISL and are in the hunt to be in the top four. Here are three things to look forward from this clash....

3. Hugely important games for both teams, especially ATK

This match will be of particular significance for ATK, as a win will see them break into the top four of the Indian Super League table, giving a huge boost to their playoff ambitions.

For Northeast, this game will also be important as it will present the chance for the Highlanders to move closer to league leaders Bengaluru FC. Additionally, a win for Northeast will see them attain their highest-ever points tally in ISL history.

2. Head-to-head record in ATK's favour

Former champions ATK have been the better team in most of their clashes against NorthEast United in previous editions of the Indian Super League.

Both teams have played nine games against each other over the years, with ATK claiming five wins compared to NorthEast United's three. One game between these two have ended in a draw.

ATK also hold the upper hand in goals scored, eight, as compared to NorthEast's five.

1. Ogbeche and Lanzarote to hold the key for their respective teams

NorthEast United have particularly impressed in terms of their striking capability. Current joint top scorer in the ISL this season, Bartholomew Ogbeche has formed a brilliant partnership with Federico Gallego, which has led to the Highlanders' rise in the league table.

On the other hand, ATK have relied heavily on Manuel Lanzarote to provide attacking threat this season. Although the Spaniard hasn't been as effective as last season, he still has been better than most players in the squad. His quality on set-pieces and passing range could pose a problem for NorthEast United.
