Manchester United is said to be planning a massive bid for Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi in next summer's transfer window.

Jose Mourinho is said to have received full backing by United's board for transfers next year and the Portuguese coach has set his sights on Icardi. The Inter Milan captain has been previously linked with a move to Old Trafford on multiple occasions.

According to AS, who quote Argentinian outlet Ole, the Red Devils believe they can force Inter to sell Icardi if they agree to pay the player's 110m release clause. The report also goes on to mention that the striker might have to request for a move if he is indeed interested in leaving the club.

25-year-old Icardi recently returned to international duty with Argentina under new coach Lionel Scaloni. He was left out of the Albiceleste's squad for the World Cup by Jorge Sampaoli.

Manchester United are currently going through a very tricky phase with Jose Mourinho's future up in the air. With Zinedine Zidane being strongly linked with move to replace the Portuguese coach at the Theatre of Dreams, it still remains to be seen what conjures in the upcoming months.
