7 Players That Have Enjoyed a Good Start to the Season

We are almost a month into the new season and the league tables are slowly starting to take shape. As for players, the pressure has started to mount, with each mistake being thrown under an unforgiving microscope.

While some of the big names have struggled, this list focuses on the players who didn't stand on ceremony, and started firing from the beginning.

Here are seven players who have enjoyed a spectacular start to the new season.

7. Luke Shaw

Highlighted by the career-threatening injury in 2015, football has not been too kind on Luke Shaw. He, however, has put that nightmare behind him and is doing his best to become a regular at Manchester United

The England international has played every single Premier League minute so far and even scored a goal in their win over Leicester City.

6. Sadio Mane

One of the most fearsome members of Liverpool's attacking trident, Sadio Mane, has started the season in the best possible way. Last season, the Senegal international's efforts were overshadowed Mohamed Salah's heroics.

This time, with the Egyptian struggling to rediscover his form, Mane has stepped up to the plate, scoring four goals in four league appearances for the Reds.

5. Karim Benzema

After being in Cristiano Ronaldo's shadow for nearly a decade, Karim Benzema finally has the opportunity to prove his worth to the entire footballing fraternity. 2017/18 was the Frenchman's worst ever professional season.

This season, The Real Madrid ace has enjoyed his best ever start to the season. In just three La Liga apperances, he has netted four goals, averaging a goal every 68 minutes.

4. Sergio Aguero

Manchester City's record goalscorer has once again gotten off to a flyer in the Premier League.   The Argentine has paired up with Gabriel Jesus to increase City's sharpness, while his intricate touches have helped the game flow during stagnant patches.

With three goals and an assist in four appearances, Aguero has emerged as the defending champions' most decisive forward.

3. Kylian Mbappe

The most exciting talent in world football has backed his World Cup heroics with more awesomeness in the French first division.

The Paris Saint-Germain forward is not just about the goals, he's also about bringing others into play. His four goals and two assists in just three Ligue 1 appearances are a testament to his qualities.

2. Lionel Messi

The most decisive player in La Liga has picked up right where he left off last season. He bagged the Golden Boot with 34 goals last term and is looking to add one more trophy to his mantelpiece.

In three La Liga appearances the majestic Barcelona number 10 has scored four goals and created two more for his teammates.

1. Gareth Bale

Since moving from Tottenham Hotspur in 2013, Gareth Bale has found it rather difficult to get into any sort of rhythm.

Cristiano Ronaldo's absence has handed Bale the opportunity to emerge as the team's undisputed showstopper. With three goals and an assist in three La Liga appearances, the Welshman looks well placed to fill in for the mercurial Portuguese.
