Arsenal legend Ian Wright has tipped Liverpool to topple Premier League holders, Manchester City and also tipped Naby Keita to have a spectacular season at Anfield.

Despite finishing 25 points behind City, Liverpool became the first team to beat the eventual winners, stopping them from recording a spotless campaign.

The Reds have had a brilliant transfer window and look significantly stronger on paper than last season. Wright was left impressed by the club's activity in the transfer window and tipped them to knock City off their porch.

The former England striker told The Debate presenter Kelly Cates that he thinks Klopp will guide Liverpool to their ever English championship in its modern format.

"The reason why I want to tip Liverpool is that they’re moving in the right direction," he said, as quoted by Daily Star

"They’ve got a manager in Jurgen Klopp who the players have got a lot of faith in and they’ve got fans who will keep this team going. And as long as they can keep the squad fit, the signings that they’ve made are excellent."

"Naby Keita, I believe he will be a massive player, same with Fabinho, and Shaqiri will be a great signing too. I also think the goalkeeper is a massive signing for them, one which I think will give them the confidence to go forward again and challenge Manchester City."

The Reds aggressive transfer policy puts Klopp under the microscope, as he virtually won't have any excuses if the Reds finish trophyless. They kick-off their campaign at home to West Ham United on Sunday.
