Everton's new signing Yerry Mina has revealed that the reason he moved from Barcelona was because he wanted to fight for something and was looking forward to working with manager Marco Silva.

Mina signed a five year deal with Everton who paid Spanish champions Barcelona just over 30 million for the player on transfer deadline day.

After being linked with a number of top clubs, it was surprising to see Mina move from a team like Barcelona to that of Everton, who are at a level much below the Spanish champions, but the player explained why he made the move.

“It is important that the club want to fight for something,” he said, according to Barca Blaugranes. “This is why I am here.

“I have watched the Premier League for a long time. It is the best league in the world. This is a great opportunity for me and I am looking forward to competing here.

“I know about Everton’s players and I look forward to being able to play with my new team. I have spoken a lot to the coach and I know his passion for Everton and determination to be successful. I am also determined to do my best for Everton.

“I worked hard during my holiday and now I am ready to play and do important things with the club.”

Mina will have a few familiar faces around him at Everton as both Andre Gomes and Lucas Digne had earlier moved to the club ahead of the new season.
