Arsenal chief executive, Ivan Gazidis has backed Unai Emery to be successful at Arsenal, claiming that his progressive brand of football will suit Arsenal perfectly.

Emery just completed winning the treble of French league title, French Cup and League Cup with Paris Saint-Germain and would love to have a similar impact at Arsenal as well. He also had a sensational spell at Sevilla, leading them to three consecutive Europa League titles.

Gazidis, however, insisted that Emery's brilliant track record wasn't the only reason why he was chosen to succeed Arsene Wenger.

"Unai has an outstanding track record of success throughout his career, has developed some of the best young talent in Europe and plays an exciting, progressive style of football that fits Arsenal perfectly," Gazidis told Arsenal's official website.

"His hard-working and passionate approach and his sense of values on and off the pitch make him the ideal person to take us forward."

Emery, too, was ecstatic to get this opportunity and looked eager to get started.

Emery said: "I am thrilled to be joining one of the great clubs in the game," the 46-year-old said. "Arsenal is known and loved throughout the world for its style of play, its commitment to young players, the fantastic stadium, the way the club is run."

"I’m very excited to be given the responsibility to start this important new chapter in Arsenal’s history."

Emery has always preferred an attractive brand of football, which should sit quite well with the Emirates faithful. He'll need to work on some key areas if he wants to get the most of this team, and a successful transfer window will be a good place to start.
