Former Barcelona ace Ronaldo shared his views on Neymar's move to Paris Saint-Germain to Barcelona, claiming it was a step back for the Brazilian.

Neymar signed for Paris Saint-Germain in the summer for a record €222million. The winger was a crucial part of the Barcelona squad but after winning every possible trophy with the Catalan giants, the Brazilian wanted to explore himself even further.

The 25-year-old insisted a club as ambitious as PSG could give him everything he needs to develop his game, and help him snatch the Ballon d'Or, ending Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo's supremacy.

Ronaldo, who was once a maverick of the sport, thought Neymar took a step back professionally.

In an interview with Zico, the former Barcelona and Real Madrid forward said: "Sportingly, the decision is a step back. But there are challenges that everyone seeks," as quoted by  FourFourTwo.

"I played in Barcelona at the time and went to Inter when the Italian championship was much more competitive."

Ligue 1 has always been criticised for being a little too favourable for Paris Saint-Germain and their host of superstars with Monaco's last season heroics broke the monotonous regime, forcing PSG to add a couple more superstars to their roster.

Champions League glory has always been PSG's primary objective and adding a player like Neymar most certainly gives them a proper boost.
