Delhi Dynamos were once again handed a heavy defeat in the tournament, this time by a rejuvenated Kerala side. Here, we take a look at three takeaways from the exciting encounter.
3. No Way Out
Delhi Dynamos were in dire need of a win, and Kerala Blasters - who are not having the best of seasons - could've been the ideal place to gain some momentum.
Despite conceding first, Delhi Dynamos crawled their way back to the game. But a bit of dip in concentration combined with Iain Hume's tenacity took the game away from Delhi. They still are at the bottom of the table and things don't really seem to get any better.
2. Glimmer of Hope
Kerala Blasters came into the tournament as one of the favourites, but couldn't quite figure out the winning formula. Last night, they faced a side who were even more out of sorts than they are and came out on top.
With the win, Kerala Blasters have climbed to sixth in the standings with 11 points from nine games. At this point, getting even the sniff top-4 would act as a motivation for the side, and if they can keep their form, they can certainly hope for something spectacular.
1. Iain Hume Returns
Iain Hume undoubtedly is the most illustrious player in the short lifespan of Hero Indian Super League. However, the player didn't have the best of starts to this year's campaign.
The player struggled for consistency and looked a little lost in front of goal. Although tonight's performance showed us once again why you can't leave the man out. He opened the scoring in the 12th minute to give Kerala the lead, but Delhi doubled up at the back and started making it more and more difficult for Kerala.
In the closing minutes of the tie, Hume banked on the tired legs of the opponents and netted a quickfire brace to hand his team a 3-1 win.
