ATK head coach Teddy Sheringham has hailed the commitment of both sets of players after seeing his side draw 0-0 against Jamshedpur FC in Jamshedpur last night.

The pitch at the JRD TATA Sports Complex was not a good one to play on, with both sides struggling to play at their best and the result leaves ATK with just two points from their opening three matches.

Speaking after the game, Sheringham was full of praise for the commitment showed by the players but hit out at the poor state of the pitch, stating that his side were lucky not to have anyone else other than Eugeneson Lyngdoh injured.

As reported by the official website of the Indian Super League, Sheringham said, “It was a really tough hard-fought draw. The pitch didn’t help the game for either team tonight. It was a tough spectacle and is not one of the games you put in the archive. But when you look at the players, you see their commitment, 22 players working hard on a pitch like that. You have to commend all 22 really.”

“Five minutes into the match, I turned around and said that this could be really bad. You could get bad injuries on that (pitch). You saw our goalkeeper coming out in the last two minutes to the edge of the box and his legs kind of buckled underneath him. We are lucky that we haven’t got more than one injury.”

“Eugeneson got a whack on the inside of his knee. There’s no ligament damage with it. It was a heavy blow, but when you know it’s just a blow on the inside, we should be okay with that one.”

The former Manchester United man also had positive words for his team's attackers and claimed that he was happy with the movements of his side's forwards.

“I was pleased from a goal scoring point of view that Zequinha hit the target, made the ‘keeper work and Hitesh (Sharma) and Robin (Singh) was there for the rebounds, we worked on that a lot. I liked the fact that strikers are getting in there and trying to score from rebounds,” he added.

This result leaves ATK ninth in the league table with just two points. They will be looking to get their first win of the season when they next take on Chennaiyin FC on December 7th.
