Neymar informed his team-mates about leaving Barcelona for Paris Saint-Germain at Lionel Messi's wedding the legendary Xavi has revealed.

The Brazilian left Barcelona after four glory-laden years, including 2015's treble. Last year, Neymar was at the heart of Barcelona's epic comeback against current employers, Paris Saint-Germain. However, the winger had no intention of continuing with the Blaugrana, as he secured a €222 million move to the French capital.

Xavi, like everyone else, was surprised at first with Neymar's decision, but slowly came to terms. In an interview with BBC, Xavi talked about the conversation at Messi's wedding.

"He said to us, in Messi’s wedding, that he wanted to change, he wanted to change the club and I said to him, ‘But why?'" quoted Squawka

"'Well I’m not happy in Barcelona, I prefer to go out and have a new experience in Europe, in Paris Saint-Germain.’ And finally that it was his decision, we must respect it."

Xavi then talked about the impressive partnership of Mbappe, Neymar, and Cavani, and how Paris Saint-Germain are serious Champions League contenders, which has always been their primary objective.

"And I think with Neymar, with (Kylian) Mbappe, Paris Saint-Germain have a great chance to win the Champions League this season," Xavi concluded.

Neymar has directly contributed to 11 goals - six goals and five assists - in just seven games this season. In the Champions League, too, he has scored three in the same number of games, including the fantastic free-kick against Anderlecht this week.
