Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe could have very well be playing in the Bundesliga today with German side RB Leipzig after their club sporting director Ralf Rangnick confirmed that the club almost signed the 18-year-old striker in 2015.
Mbappe shot to fame in the second half of last season when he lead French side Monaco to the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League and starred in all their displays during the season,
After months of intense speculation about his future, he was snapped up by Paris Saint-Germain on a loan deal with a permanent deal to be thrashed out next year for a mammoth
€180m next year.
However, according to Rangnick, things could have been totally different for the Frenchman. Speaking to German news outlet Bild, Rangnick said, "We almost signed Mbappe. The problem was back then we just separated from our coach Alexander Zorniger."
He concluded, "It was shortly after the winter break of 2015, so at that moment, we didn't know who our next manager would be and how everything would continue. Kylian's father said to me that if I could say for sure that I would become the new manager, he would entrust his son to me immediately. But in February 2015, I could not give him that promise yet."
