Indian captain Sunil Chhetri has expressed his delight after helping the Men in Blue win 4-1 against Macau and qualify for the 2019 AFC Asian Cup.

Goals from Rowling Borges, Chhetri, Jeje and an own goal gave Stephen Constantine's men a comfortable win in Bangalore and sealed their place in the showpiece tournament in the UAE in January 2019.

After the game, Chhetri, who has played a pivotal role in India's qualification campaign, claimed that India deserved to qualify and go up against the best sides in Asia.

As reported by the Indian Express, Chhetri said, “I was there when we missed out in 2015 and that still hurts me. This is the tournament we play for. We get to rub our shoulders against best in Asia which we don’t get many times."

“Amazing feeling. We have worked hard for this. Quite a group. Good last 3 points, great feeling. Happy with the way we bounced back. Just four teams qualified. It shows our hard work. We will keep working hard."

“We can’t lose our cool. The goal we conceded was against the run of play. Balwant had great pace and set it up for me to finish,” the 33 year old added.

The victory over Macau has given India the chance to play in just their fourth AFC Asian Cup in history and they will be looking to do well and impress in the tournament.
