Chelsea's Italian manager Antonio Conte has branded Spanish defender Cesar Azpilicueta as one of the best central defenders in the world currently. The Spaniard has become a very important part of Conte's setup at Chelsea and he proved that last night when he scored in Chelsea's 6-0 win over Qarabag.
The 28-year-old Spanish international played every single minute of Chelsea's Premier League victory last season. Azpilicueta has firmly established himself as a senior member of the Blues' squad since arriving from Marseille in 2012.
After the victory against Qarabag, Conte said Azpilicueta deserves to be named among the world's best defenders in the current generation.
Speaking after the match, Conte told Goal, "Last season Azpi was one of the most important players for us. In this position as a central defender he is one of the best in the world. He is very good with and without the ball."
The Italian manager highlighted Azpilicueta's qualities and why he is a precious asset to any coach. Conte concluded, "He's a fantastic guy, he's always positive, and during the training sessions he works in a fantastic way. For a coach to have him is a dream."
Chelsea have won three of the first four Premier League games of the season and will play against Arsenal at the Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
