Indian Super League's new entrants Bengaluru FC have secured the signing of Spanish winger Eduardo Garcia from La Liga side Real Zaragoza. Eduardo will be the last overseas player to make Bengaluru's squad as they have now completed their foreign signings for the season.
Having signed a one year deal at Bengaluru, Eduardo (Edu) has become the eighth foreign player to have signed for the club's maiden season the Indian Super League. The club announced Edu's unveiling on their official website.
The 27-year-old winger has impressed Albert Roca who has been tracking him for some time. Roca expressed his happiness at Edu's arrival as he said, "Edu is an exciting young winger. His versatility down the flank will provide us with great options in terms of personnel as well as our game plan. He will be a great addition to our squad and fits in well with our philosophy.”
Additionally, Garcia himself was very happy at joining one of the top clubs in India as he said, "I’m very excited for joining the club. From the first time, I liked the idea of playing for Bengaluru’s team in the Indian Super League. Football in India is growing a lot and it’s an important challenge for me. I hope I can help the club to reach the objectives for the season. I can’t wait to start!”
The exciting winger was part of Zaragoza's Segunda division campaign last season and made 27 appearances for the Spanish club and helped them finish 16th while amassing 50 points from the season.
Mumbai City FC sign Thiago Santos
Another Indian Super League side Mumbai City FC have gone ahead and signed Brazilian midfielder Thiago Santos on Loan from Brazilian side Flamengo.
Having made only one start for Flamengo, Santos will be gearing up for more action in the ISL this season. The 22-year old professional, who had won the U-20 Rio de Janeiro league back in 2015, is the fifth Brazilian roped in by the club, after the signings of Marcio Rosario, Gerson Vieira, Leo Costa and Everton Santos.
With only 175 minutes of football under his belt in the last couple of seasons, Thiago would hope to be a regular name in Mumbai's squad as Alexandre Guimaraes tries to win the Indian Super League this season.
