Champions Chelsea begin the defense of their Premier League title against Burnley at Stamford Bridge tonight and all eyes will definitely be on Alvaro Morata for this match.
Chelsea are without their main man Eden Hazard who was injured in training, unsettled striker Diego Costa, injured winger Pedro, new signing Bakayoko and suspended Victor Moses.
The Blues will most likely field a 3-4-3 formation with Marcos Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta as wing-backs.
1. Thibaut Courtois
Goalkeeper - Courtois is the first choice keeper for Chelsea ahead of Willy Caballero who was signed on a free transfer from Manchester City and Eduardo.
The Spaniard was in top form in the last season and he will want to replicate the same form in the new Premier League Campaign,
2. Cesar Azpilicueta
Right Wing Back- Azpilicueta is the only Chelsea player to have played every minute in the last year's Premier League campaign.
Since Victor Moses is suspended, Azpilicueta is most likely to play as the right wing back as he has previously proven himself effective from that position last season.
3. Antonio Rüdiger
Centre Back- The Germany international is all set to make his debut for the champions in the season opener against Burnley. He comes in for the suspended Victor Moses and will play at the preferred centre back position. He will want to cement his position in the first team with a dominant display tonight.
4. David Luiz
Centre Back - The Brazil international had a wonderful Premier League campaign last year. Chelsea signed him back from PSG last summer and he has been proving himself to be one of the the best centre backs in the Premier League. He will be willing to kick off the season with a win.
5. Gary Cahill
Centre Back- After the departure of club legend John Terry, the captain's armband was handed over to Cahill. He has a big shoes to fill in to. He will start as the left centre back. We believe that the England defender will rise up to the challenge and showcase his leadership skills as he leads the Blues on their quest to retain the title.
6. Marcos Alonso
One of the signings of last season, Spanish international Marcos Alonso was mercurial in his role in Antonio Conte's new setup.
The Spaniard scored 7 goals and assisted 4 goals which shows how good he is when going forward. He is a preferred freekick taker from the right side of the pitch. His performances will be very vital for Chelsea.
7. Cesc Fabregas
Centre Midfield- He wasn't the first choice player till Matic was around, yet he had a very good last season. He scored 5 goals and assisted 12 goals in the limited chances he got. His experience will come handy in the absence of a lot of first team players and Antonio Conte is sure to use that experience if he is to mount a successful title defense this season.
Centre Midfield- The France international was the PFA player of the year for the consecutive 2nd year. He is a beast in the midfield. Kante is literally everywhere on the field and has an amazing ball retention record. He is a type of player every team needs. He will want to kick off his new season helping Chelsea to a win.
Right Wing- The Brazilian comes in for injured Pedro. He will definitely try to give his best in order to cement his place in the starting 11. He is the freekick specialist for Chelsea. Willian will look at this opportunity to remind the manager that he is indeed not to be ignored at the club.
10. Mitchy Batshuayi
Centre Forward- The Belgian forward had a very good pre-season and with a vacancy on the centre forward position, he would love to replicate his pre-season form.
Diego Costa will certainly never play for Chelsea again, after his fallout with the manager and this comes as a welcome blessing for Batshuayi who looked certain to leave the club this summer.
11. Alvaro Morata
Left Wing- Morata was signed from Real Madrid as a replacement for the troubled Diego Costa. His first task for Chelsea in the Premier League will be replacing the injured Eden Hazard on the left wing.
Making his Premier League debut today, Morata is an intelligent player and is very fast on the ball, so he isn't a bad choice for a makeshift left winger.
