Premier League champions Chelsea are edging closer towards signing one of their prime defensive targets as it is being reported that the Blues have struck a deal with Real Madrid defender Danilo in their quest to lure the Brazilian to Stamford Bridge.

26-year-old Danilo has been one of the top names in Chelsea's summer transfer list and reports in Spain confirm that the player has accepted terms with Chelsea but a transfer fee is yet to be agreed between the Premier League Champions and the Champions of Europe.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is looking for more defensive reinforcements after signing Antonio Rudiger from Roma and the club has obliged to the manager's request to sign Danilo, who looks surplus to Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane's requirements.

Calciomercato claim that the defender himself is desperate to move to Chelsea as he is in search of regular game-time in order to stake a claim for his spot in the Brazilian national team for next year's FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Chelsea, who recently completed their first couple of marquee transfers by luring Tiemoue Bakayoko from Monaco and signing Antonio Rudiger from Roma, look to complete their summer transfer business as soon as possible in order to give Antonio Conte time to pan out his strategy to successfully defend Chelsea's Premier League crown next season.
