Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane and skipper Sergio Ramos are keen to hold on to wantaway striker Cristiano Ronaldo, after news emerged that the superstar wants to leave the Bernabeu after falling foul of the tax authorities in Spain.

According to Marca, Zidane immediately called Ronaldo on hearing the news in a bid to convince the player to stay with the Los Blancos as he believes that that the team could go on to win more in the future and also to remind him of how influential he is in the Madrid dressing room.

The Frenchman is determined to hold on to his star player, and he will reportedly continue to hold talks with Ronaldo during the summer and if nothing is resolved at the end of the holidays he will sit down and speak to their talisman.

However, the report also states that should he be unable to convince the player to stay, he would not come in his way as the Frenchman has always stated that he does not want anyone involved who is not 100 percent committed to the cause.

The 32-year-old was in brilliant form this season as he led Real Madrid to the La Liga title and the UEFA Champions League title, scoring 42 goals and registering 12 assists in 46 games in all competitions.
