Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani will commit his future to the Ligue 1 champions by signing a new contract which will keep him at the club until 2020 reports French publication L'Equipe. The 30-year-old whose current deal runs till 2018 has been in talks and negotiations over a new deal for sometime, with the delay due to complications in the payment of bonuses.

The Uruguayan has been in brilliant form for the French giants this season scoring 43 goals in 42 appearances so far in all competitions and has truly shown his worth after getting a chance due to Zlatan Ibrahimovic moving to Manchester United in the summer.

Cavani's reluctance to sign a new contract led to speculation that he could be sold in the transfer window with PSG targeting unsettled Arsenal striker Alexis Sanchez. With his contract extension expected to take place later today, the club has made a big statement as they look to keep the crux of the team going into next season.

In Julian Draxler, Angel Di Maria, Javier Pastore and Lucas Moura, the club have arguably have one of the best forward line's in the world, however they have not performed to expectations so far, getting knocked out in the round of 16 of the Champions League by Barcelona while they are in danger of losing out their Ligue 1 crown to Monaco, as they are currently placed second in the table.
